Loring Hospital opened its doors in September of 1950. Throughout the years, Loring has continued to grow and add services to provide healthcare to Sac County and the surrounding area. Loring Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital with 25 beds. Some of the services at Loring include:

  Loring Home Health and Hospice are Medicare certified. The staff work in a 40-mile radius of Sac City. Their clients have the benefit of the agency being hospital-based so they can consult with local physicians.

• Lifeline® - Emergency Response Center

  Lifeline® gives seniors the confidence and freedom to live on their own. There is always someone standing by to help whenever you need it 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Loring Hospital professionals are there to answer your call.

• Chemotherapy
• Wellness Services/ Dietary Teaching

  Loring Hospital does wellness screenings on request for schools and businesses. They also provide personalized dietary teaching, infection control, OB, and STD's.

• Loring Hospital Auxiliary and Loring Family Hospice

  The Loring Auxiliary and the Loring Family Hospice play an important role at the hospital. The organizations provide numerous volunteer hours to the facility and to Hospice patients.
  In 1998, Loring Hospital opened a new Outpatient Clinic. There are over 20 physician specialists scheduled at Loring on a regular basis.

Special Programs Provided to the Area

Nurse Aide Classes - With cooperation of Iowa Central Community College, Loring Hospital staff of professionals offer nurses aide training.

Birth Control - Information is offered to youth groups upon request about what is available and to educate them about birth control.

Aids (HIV) - Loring Hospital infection control director explains all of the current information and prevention to youth as well as adults.

Self Breast Exam - Upon request, programs at the hospital and in private homes have been presented.

Adult Abuse - Programs have been presented to area nursing homes on warning signs and care of elderly adults that have been abused.

Volunteers - Currently there are over 35 desk volunteers that have gone through special training from Loring staff. There are over 300 Loring Auxiliary members that play a very large part at Loring Hospital and Loring Care Center.
