Public Schools The Sac Community School system is a 98 square mile district comprised of approximately 550 students and 50 teachers. A well rounded academic and extra-circular program from kindergarten through high school is offered. The high school is a modern, efficient structure, with an addition built in 1960. The grade school, gymnasium and athletic complex were built new in 1984. Special education programs are available for students who need them through Arrowhead Area Education Agency. Sac City is serious about the quality of its education, demonstrated by a 96% graduation rate and consistently high ACT scores.
Pre-School / Head Start Children in Sac City are offered the Federal Head Start Program as well as a several private pre-schools.
Adult Education Adults are offered the advantage of furthering their education with evening classes, extension programs and off-campus classes through the Iowa Central Television Network. A GED program is available year round.
Community Colleges Accessible to the residents of Sac City is Iowa Central Community College and Des Moines Area Community College. Iowa Central Community College has its main campus in Fort Dodge (45 minutes) with satellite classes available at the Sac City High School. Iowa Central also has classes available at their Storm Lake site (30 minutes). Des Moines Area Community College courses are available at Carroll (30 minutes). Western Iowa Tech offers classes at Ida Grove (35 minutes).
