Sac City Sesquicentennial July 1-4, 2005

Sac City Star Contest

So you think you have talent. Do you have the talent to represent your community as the Sac City Star? Do you have family ties to Sac City, or are you from Sac City? If you answered yes to either of these two questions, then we want you! Join us in participating in the Sac City Star Contest to be held July 1, 2005 at  8:00 p.m. at the Chautauqua Building in Sac City.

There will be a panel of 3-4 judges that will critique and score the performances based on voice, stage presence,  crowd applause, and overall performance. Each of them will have a short time for a comment after each contestant. Participants should be willing and able to accept constructive criticism. The contest will be done karaoke style.

Alumni Swim Meet

Maybe you're not a singer, maybe your talent started many years ago when you were a part of the Sac City Swim Team. If that is the case then this is the event for you. We would like to invite all Sac City Swim Team alumni to join in the fun at the first ever Alumni Swim Meet to be held at 4:00 p.m., July 3rd at the Aquatic Center. Former Swim Team members can register to compete against the 2005 Sac City Swim Team members.

The events will be the same as regular swim meets: butterfly open, backstroke open, breaststroke open, freestyle open, freestyle relay, medley relay, and the individual medley. So get out your suits and head for the Rec Center to get yourself ready to compete in the first ever Alumni Swim Meet!

Canoe Float

Have you ever thought it would be fun to float the river, but didn't have a canoe? Then this is the event for you. The Sesquicentennial committee in conjuction with the Conservation office is hosting a canoe float. The canoe float will start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 3rd at the north 16th street bridge north of Sac City and will end at Lion's Park.
This will be a chaperoned float and canoes will be made available to participants. In order to keep the float manageable we will have a maximum of 15 canoes, so this will be a first come, first serve activity. Each canoe must have at least one adult. If you would like to be a part of the float contact the Chamber-Main Street office to reserve your canoe. The float is a tenative event depending on the condition of the river on July 3rd.
Stay tuned to the Sac City website for more information on how to register to be a part of these activities.
